RHA Rental Units

The Regional Housing Authority currently owns or manages 42 year-round rental units serving over 100 island residents who make less than 80% of the area's median income. Applications for rental housing can be down loaded from RHA Rental Application.

Fisher Road Townhouses, Edgartown

This complex of townhouses consists of eight 3-bedroom apartments designated for family housing. Purchased in 1996, renovation work was completed in 1998. Each townhouse contains two apartments. Fisher Road Townhouses are located off Upper Main Street in Edgartown
Household income must not exceed 60% of the area's median income limits.

Vineyard Village Apartments, Tisbury

Dedicated in 1999 to the memory of Betty Ann Bryant, life-long advocate for affordable housing.
These twelve apartments of family housing, consisting of 2 and 3 bedroom units, were purchased in 1996 and completely rehabilitated over a three year period. One of the apartments is handicapped accessible. The atmosphere at Vineyard Village has a distinct sense of community and neighborhood. Vineyard Village is located off State Road in Vineyard Haven.
Household income must not exceed 65% of the area's median income limits.

Sepiessa Point Apartments, West Tisbury

This multi-family apartment complex consisting of four 1 and 2 bedroom units was built in 1997 by the island's design/ build firm of South Mountain Company. The property is located next to the Sepiessa Point Land Bank Property on the Tisbury Great Pond. One of the apartments is handicapped accessible.
Household income must no exceed 80% of the area's median income limits.

Greenough House, Tisbury

This 100 year old colonial revival home, located off Main Street in Vineyard Haven, has been renovated into six independent living apartments. These one bedroom apartments are designated for residents who are 55 years or older.
Household income must not exceed 60% of the area's median income limits for four of the units and 50% for two of the units.

Lake Street Apartments, Tisbury

Built in 1998 by the Town of Tisbury in collaboration with the Regional High School Vocational Arts Department, these apartments consists of three 2-bedroom units and one 3-bedroom unit.
Household income must not exceed 50% of the area's median income limits.

Lagoon Pond Apartments, Tisbury

This multi-family apartment complex in downtown Vineyard Haven consisting of three 1-bedroom units and one 3-bedroom unit was purchased and renovated in 2002 by the Regional Housing Authority.
Household income must not exceed 80% of the area's median income limits.


Halycon Way Apartments, West Tisbury

Built in 2002 by the Island Afforable Housing Development Corporation and managed under an agreement by the Regional Housing Authority, this duplex has two 2-bedroom units.
Household income must not exceed 80% of the area's median income limits.

Lagoon Heights Houses, Oak Bluffs

Built in 1994 by the Regional Housing Authority, these eight units provide living quarters and rehabilitative services to those persons needing mental health or addiction recovery services on Cape Cod or the Islands. The RHA does not accept applications or qualify persons for these services. Contact Fellowship Health Resources, Inc. at (508) 693-2003.

IEH Rental Units

Hillside Village - Vineyard Haven

40 units, four are fully handicapped accessible. Funding has been approved by HUD for another building with 10 units, which will open in December of 2001. Non-elderly, disabled are eligible as well as elders over 62

Woodside Village - Oak Bluffs

This property has 45 units, five are handicapped accessible. Funding has been approved to build 27 new units at this site and they will open early in 2002. An application for an additional nine units has been approved and will be ready in 2002. Only elders over 62 are eligible.

The Love House - Vineyard Haven

This building is in the process of being converted into five efficiency apartments. Only elders over 62 are eligible..

The Rental Assistance Program is available to Regional Housing Authority program eligible families and individuals making less than 120% or median income for Dukes County (e.g. $68,500 for a family of four). The purpose of the program is to provide a subsidy to assist the household in paying monthly rent. The tenant is responsible for paying 30% of their monthly income towards rent, while the remainder is paid directly to the property owner by the Regional Housing Authority.

The Regional Housing Authority's Rental Rehabilitation Loan Program assists homeowners in rehabilitating and winterizing properties for year-round affordable rental housing. Rental Rehabilitation Loan applications can be downloaded from Rental Rehab Loan Application and the terms and conditions sheet for the loan program can be downloaded from Rental Rehab Loan Term Sheet or for more information please contact the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority at 508-693-4419. This program has been been funded through a grant from the USDA Rural Development.

The Oak Bluffs Housing Rehabilitation Program administered by The Resources Inc. (TRI) also provides 15-year forgivable no-interest rehabilitation loans to homeowners in return for renting their properties affordably. TRI offices are located at the Vineyard Housing Office in Vineyard Haven and can be reached at (508) 696-3285.

The Housing Authority provides two apartments to CAC for their Transitional Assistance Program on Martha's Vineyard. This program provides transitional housing and support services to homeless families for up to one year. CAC also runs homeless shelters on the Cape.
